Chick-fil-a chicken nuggets are pretty coveted in some parts of the country. Usually, I am pretty indifferent about them myself and I absolutely hate the long lines at the two local Chick-fil-a franchises. For those times that I would like to get my hands on some, I usually against my better judgement go wait in those times and then leave feeling super dirty after the cashier says ‘my pleasure.’ It’s weird and they should really get rid of that.
Anyway back to the point of this post, a few days ago a video came across my feed for a Chick-fil-a nugget copycat recipe. The video can be found here.
So I will say that the recipe did have a similar taste to Chick-fil-a’s nuggets. It really did, but I just have a few statements about these cooking recipes that aren’t real-time and I can guarantee leaves out some steps. Somewhere.
Here are some of my observations:
- My nuggets don’t really look like the ones in the video (maybe these people are cooking ninjas that make everything neat).
- I followed all of the instructions and my flour/egg concoction got really gross in that plastic bag. There is no way they straight up did it that way. It was gooey and then when I took the nuggets out of the bag, most of them were stuck together and touching them reminded me of an extra slimy creature that is way more slimy than touching uncooked chicken.
- And again because of point number 1 and 2 there is no way with that flour/egg mess they go their nuggets to look exactly they way they did at the end of the video. Maybe they did, but I maybe sort of call bullshit.
I say try them, they weren’t bad. And of course, my kids aka taste testers said that they were good so that’s a plus. They are just way messier to make than the video suggests and if you can tell me of an easier way, I will probably make them again.
What you could do if you want them neater is do it the old fashioned way with a wet bowl and dry bowl but instead of using naked hands put on gloves or plastic baggies if you please. That could make them neater. Oh and as always make sure to give them a good trim before battering them.
