Italian Crescent Casserole Recipe

0 Flares 0 Flares ×

I love it when I cook something and it is such a hit that I don’t have to worry about leftovers. It is sad though and a waste but leftovers tend to be forgotten about in our house and the dogs usually end up with a messy experiment or something tasty. They are dogs so they win either way. Well this recipe I made is very similar to the Pillsbury Italian Crescent Casserole Recipe but I changed the kind of sauce used but I am sure it is just as good either way.

This dish was just full of cheesy goodness and the basil leaves and crescent rolls added a really great crust. It also had the spaghetti sauce flavor the kids love without me having to make spaghetti. My kids love spaghetti and well making it every week is kind of blah!

Here is the recipe for you guys to try with my changes:

Italian Crescent Casserole Recipe
Prep time:
Cook time:
Total time:
Serves: 4

Ingredients
  • 1 lb ground beef, cooked, drained
  • 1 cup Three Cheese Pasta Sauce (the original called for a different kind. I love this one more so I used it)
  • 1 can (8 oz) refrigerated crescent dinner rolls
  • 1½ cups shredded Italian cheese blend (6 oz)
  • ¼ teaspoon dried basil leaves
Instructions
  1. In skillet, mix beef and pasta sauce. Heat to boiling over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally.
  2. Separate dough into 8 triangles. Place dough in ungreased 9-inch glass pie plate in spoke pattern, with narrow tips overlapping rim of plate about 3 inches. Press dough in side and bottom to form crust; sprinkle with 1 cup of the cheese. Spoon meat mixture evenly over cheese. Bring tips of dough over filling to meet in center; do not overlap. Sprinkle with remaining ½ cup cheese and the basil.
  3. Bake at 375°F for 20 minutes.

someone suggested buying pilsbury croissants from the chill section of supermarket (the ones in the cardboard tube). Not tried it yet but going to have a go with that. Hope this helps

  9. We made this tonight and it was delicious! We changed it to Italian sausage and added more cheese. So many possibilities. Awesome!

Took 35 min to cook and was a little oily

Awesome! I threw some onions and green peppers and garlic in the food processor, added to the meat. Did half ground beef, half Italian sausage. Lots of ways to change it up! Great recipe!! (Going to add bacon next time! 😜😜)

  12. What size skillet did you use? Would a 10 1/2 inch work?

  13. Added half a Vidalia and a small can of corn. And if course, extra cheese. Came out very tasty. Easy prep. Thanks for this.

  14. This is awesome. I used chef Boyardee spaghetti sauce since it’s the only kind my dad likes. It was really good though and he really liked it, which is saying something because he is such a picky eater. It’s like trying to get a toddler to eat, lol. Very easy, and family friendly though it also paired really well with garlic bread and a salad.

  15. This looks so good!! Is this something that could be made as a freezer meal? Like cook ahead of time and freeze. If so would you completely cook it then freeze or put it all together and freeze before cooking?

sounds like a great recipe but would not print out

  17. I made this recipe using Italian sausage and added chopped bell peppers, onions and olives.
I topped with Italian seasoning. The flavors were fantastic!
I also tried it Mexican style with salsa, corn and olives, using Mexican blend cheese and taco seasoning, and everyone loved it!
It’s very versatile, you can do lots of different things to change it up.
