It is funny how since I had kids, my body works with no sleep

When I was younger it was always very necessary for me to have all the sleep that I could get. And admittedly we I was around 18 years old I wrecked a car for the first because I fell asleep at the wheel at 8:00 in the morning from not getting enough sleep. (no one was hurt it was just an electric pole) and all that had happened was I had stayed up late playing on the computer and then my mom woke me up early to take my brother something at school. At the time I didn’t realize I had fallen asleep I had claimed it was something totally different.

I think once I claimed it was a piece of paper that flew around the car from me rolling the windows down. I finally admitted later that I think I probably fell asleep. Funny thing was no one bothered me about sleep anymore after that.

Anyway since having children and when they were babies I got used to hardly any sleep at all and have the ability to function.

For example today I was up all night with insomnia and finally fell asleep at 6:30 this morning got woke up by the kids at 10:30 and am able for the most part to function.

For example after the kids went with their grandma for a while, I went to a few stores to look for a couple of things and to get something for dinner later.

Well here in Texas it is tax free weekend, so most of the crazies have come out of the woodwork. And I totally did what I had to do (no school shopping, I got done with that a couple of weeks ago) and I managed not to fall asleep anywhere randomly.

I also managed not to stick anyone.

I so got this whole no sleep thing under control, though tonight I think a Tylenol pm or melatonin with some kind alcoholic cocktail is in my future for tonight.

No really though I need some sleep or I just might stick someone. It is just weird how I do better without sleep than I used to.

  1. Yes, we moms can function without if we have too!

  2. My body has never worked without much sleep. I can do it for about 2 days, but then I’m completely worthless. I really need about 8 hours to be good.

  3. I’m the opposite. I need more sleep today than I ever did. But I don’t get it!

  4. I’m at a point where I consider myself lucky if I get 5 hours. I sometimes only get 3 a night.

  5. I completely agree! My husband and I talk about this all the time! We have 3 girls under 4 and it is amazing how I can go with almost no sleep and still fully function! Great post!
