When I think of comfort food, Chicken and Dumplings is always at the top of the list. But when you are super craving comfort food, it’s kind of hard to get up the energy to make it. You guys know what I mean. It’s hard after a cold long day to make comfort food, especially chicken and dumplings. But how about an easy recipe, that you can make in one pot!
The Crock Pot!
Awesome, right?
This one that my kids and family loved. I’ve made it for years, but haven’t posted about it in my recipes here.
It’s usually something where there are either no leftovers or they disappear pretty quick. But who am I to talk up a recipe.
Check out my Slow Cooker Chicken and Dumplings yourself
- 4 skinless, boneless chicken breast halves
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 (10.75 ounce) cans condensed cream of chicken soup
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 2 (10 ounce) packages refrigerated biscuit dough, torn into pieces, I like to use a pizza cutter to cut them in fours.
- Place the chicken, butter, soup, and onion powder in slow cooker / crock pot, and fill with enough water to cover.
- Cover, and cook for 5 to 6 hours on High. About 30 minutes before serving, place the torn biscuit dough in the slow cooker. Cook until the dough is no longer raw in the center.
See that easy! And my sister also suggested adding a bit of water when you add the biscuits, for her it made them cook easier. I tried it and it does work.
So try it and make your simple and literally one-dish chicken and dumplings.
