10 Ways To Include Kids On New Years Eve

As a parent we usually have to focus on our kids and do things that are family friendly, and that usually includes New Years Eve as well. And since my kids are teenage and pre-teen it is a little bit easier on me (because well they don’t tend to get too tired early to stay up late), but we still have to be family friendly. So I decided to compile this list of things to do with kids on New Years Eve so they and you have fun.

10 ways to include kids on new years eve

  1. Play games. One of our big things this year is our game plans. Our big game plans include having a dance off with the Just Dance games and the Xbox One Kinect. And there also tons of other games you can play as well, such as Bananagrams. Which we recently played and loved.
  2. Sparkling grape juice or a Hot Cocoa Toast at midnight for the kids. Personally, I am still up in the air over this one, because the weather in Texas has been so flip floppy. Today it is 46 degrees, yesterday it was raining and 80 degrees.
  3. Fireworks. I am not sure about where you guys live, but doing fireworks here is huge. The kids will only be allowed to do sparklers of course, but they love them and have a blast.
  4. Dress up. I totally have fun with this one, now my teenager probably won’t, but smaller kids definitely will. They will feel grown up and it is fun for everyone.
  5. Karaoke party. I put this one in for purely selfish reasons, because well I got a brand new machine from my parents for Christmas, so our big plans include singing with our dance party.
  6. A Fun Countdown. I have seen some fun ones like this balloon countdown pinned on my Pinterest board that is fun for everyone at the party.
  7. Food. Of course this one is a given, but fancy foods aren’t required. Most kids want fun finger foods and I’m with the kids, they are way more fun than fancy dishes. Check out these 10 New Years Appetizers From The Grant Life. Screen Shot 2015-12-28 at 6.08.07 PM
  8. Photobooth. This is one that I am dying to do. Check out these printable props.
  9. Crafts. My kids would probably look at me like I’m crazy, but hey you can easily make paperplate noisemakers. Paint, crayons, paper plates and dry beans is all that would be required.
  10. A resolution station. I know that making New Years Resolutions aren’t always popular but you can make party hats where everyone writes their resolution on them or you can incorporate it into your Photobooth and have everyone take a photo with a whiteboard that they have written their resolution onto.

I am sure there are hundreds of things that can be done for New Years Parties for kids that I am not even touching on, but these are things that work with us and our typically small get togethers. So for more great parenting posts please and idea posts please be sure to sign up for my Newsletter!
